The Foundation Cante de las Minas shows his condolences on the death of percussionist Rafael Santa Cruz (05/08/2014)

The musician was to star the Festival pays tribute this year to Paco de Lucia, also died in February this year.

The Cante de las Minas Foundation deeply regrets the death of percussionist, musicologist and main disseminator of Peruvian cajón Rafael Santa Cruz Castillo, died in the early hours of yesterday at age 53 due to cardiac arrest.

The Executive Chairman of the Foundation and Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, has sent a message of condolence to his family on behalf of the municipality and the Festival, which was scheduled to participate the next 14, 15 and 16 August.

Santa Cruz would be offered a teaching gig La Union on the "Peruvian Cajon" which was the greatest expert in the world.

It had also scheduled a "Course Introduction and Advanced Techniques Drawer" and a Great Public Cajoneada on Avenida del Flamenco.

Great defender of Afro-Peruvian culture, Santa Cruz organized annually in the Peruvian capital the International Festival of Peruvian Cajon, bringing together national and worldwide musicians with an extensive program of concerts, video samples, master classes and lectures at different audiences .
