The Carmen boat, skippered by Jose Coello and belongs to Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, was fastest in the sixth edition of the Carbide Silver regatta organized by the Yacht Club of Portman, who has played along this last weekend in waters off Cartagena and Portman.
The ship was perfectly adapted to the bad weather and strong winds, which sometimes caused some havoc among the participants.
Eolo sometimes blew too hard, so that the judges decided to suspend the race test on Sunday and let such classification which had ended the day before.
Thus, in the RI category, faster cruise, the first three to finish were: 1 Carmen, Joseph Coello (RCR Cartagena);
Pez April 2nd, José María Meseguer (CN Villa San Pedro) and 3rd HMS Surprise, Hector Lopez (RCR Cartagena).
In the R III, the champion was Octopus Black, Pedro González (RCN Torrevieja);
2nd Cuma, Francisco Jiménez (RCR Cartagena) and 3rd Trebol Queen II, Arturo Garcia (RCR Cartagena).
In the R mode IV, the first was saleroso, Luis Carlos Martinez (CN Eagles), followed by Tenton, Gonzalo Abad (RCR Cartagena) and finished 3rd El Amparo, Martín Luis Fonseca (CN Marmenor Los Alcazares).
In the first race, the Saturday, took out a total of 52 boats.
In the morning on Sunday the group of competitors was reduced to 38 ships, but ultimately was never Portman.
