The Minister of Industry and Tourism expressed "absolute commitment" of the Regional Government with the regeneration of Portman Bay (14/05/2014)

The Minister for Industry, Tourism, Enterprise and Innovation, Juan Carlos Ruiz, today moved the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, "absolute commitment" of the Regional Government with the regeneration of Portman Bay, for that is a priority, and that "he has acted in a very clever way to find the future of Portman in what has been his past," and that "what was once a problem has become an opportunity to declare sterile as mineral resource ".

For the Minister of Industry "has been put on the table a cost effective solution that will allow Portman Bay regenerate and generate wealth for both the municipality and the Region of Murcia" and all with an absolute respect for the environment of the area.

Ruiz was convinced that "it is a good project and the final solution."

The regeneration project Portman Bay will allow to value an important part of the regional coast and the regional government will encompass all the processing to be as flexible as possible, in compliance with the law.

For this, the Directorate General of Industry, Energy and Mines, under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Enterprise and Innovation said sterile mineral deposit as non-naturally occurring.

Its implementation is currently undergoing public bidding, after the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) last April 4 competition for the award of an administrative concession for the occupation of public coastal land required for mining use of Portman Bay.

So that the administrative concession will conduct environmental regeneration of the area through the extraction and sale of existing iron ore in it.
