The Old Public Market The Union has welcomed this morning the inauguration of the Week Theme X Secondary School "Sierra Minera", to be held from today until next February 19 and will have as its backbone and cross-item Mathematics.
The event was attended by our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, General Manager of the schools in the Region of Murcia, María Dolores Valcarcel, Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García, the Deputy Mayor of Education, Julio Garcia, Councillors and Municipal Government Team, that have been received by the Director of the center-Tembleque Felix Sanchez, and the rest of the educational community of Sierra Mining Institute.
The Thematic Week project during 1999/2000 starts, and it is a method of interdisciplinary work, which allows the student to approach so playful and fun to the world of mathematics: its possibilities, its reality and its practical applications.
It is based on the development of basic skills and is addressed to the student body, claiming inter alia activity:
• Discover the Math, besides being on blackboards and books, are found in many other places in our daily environment more.
• Show mathematical connections enter the different areas of the curriculum.
• Breaking up with the idea of ​​seeing mathematics as a complex, difficult task of learning and teaching.
• Develop a taste for mathematics and pique the interest of our students in the subject.
• Transform the traditional concept of education based on knowledge acquisition in a modern concept of learning based on the ability to resolve situations throughout life.
The activity is a math game where students have to perform a series of tests by which obtained a score in each of them being winning the group greater appreciation for its finalization.
Each test is organized into Classrooms / Workshop and are referenced to the various areas of knowledge, with the cross-cutting issue its contribution to the acquisition of mathematics competition.
The City Council gave the Old Public Market, for their organization, with the desire to bring the experience to other schools in the region and anyone interested in how everyday life moves between numbers and geometries.
This edition has been requested more than 40 participating schools in primary and secondary schools across the region, with the presence of some 2,700 alumni / ae.
Under the slogan "CQD" different teaching departments have coordinated to organize the following activities: Tower of Babel (English, French, Latin).
