The municipality will save more than 300,000 per year contract with the new lighting (07/02/2014)

The Governing Board of the City of La Union has agreed Ratings Elsamex Mercantil, SA, as the first called to the management of public lighting in our town and that four companies have submitted tender.

The winning bid will mean savings for a total of over 300,000 per year, broken down under different concepts municipal coffers:

More than 92,000 euros directly derived from lower power consumption to pay the supplier (decrease of 18% in turnover).

More than 140,000 euros by the deletion of lighting maintenance contract to date had been managing the company for that purpose USM.

More than 80,000 euros for insurance against all risks of street lighting (including theft), for the installation and use of ornamental lighting in times of festivals and by the works of network maintenance and materials used in them.

In this sense, the Mercantile Elsamex SA will make an investment of 1,037,361.42 euros in order to carry out the replacement of more than 3,500 lights and public points of light scattered from La Union, Portman and Roche plus installing new control boxes 30 and 63 optical blocks in classic fixtures.

Likewise, it will undertake the implementation of public lighting in the streets and Contrast La Barca and the Plaza Enrique Morente, and the installation of 14 new streetlights in the Plaza Joaquín Costa.

In addition, the contractor will perform the energy audit of 35 municipal buildings, in order to also get tender management and lighting energy consumption thereof.

Is also provided for performing various informative and educational campaigns among citizens of the town to publicize the advantages of the new systems installed savings, which in practice will involve lower consumption in over 460,000 kWh per year, the couple a reduction in CO2 emissions to the atmosphere above 570 tonnes per year.

Our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, has described as very positive news since, thanks to the new energy saving systems to be installed, which are the sole responsibility of the contractor and at no cost to the City, it will to produce a very significant reduction of the expenditure to which has been facing the City to date, which will allocate resources to new economic and social policies to promote employment in our town.
