For IU-Greens cuts in culture and education affecting the future of Cante de las Minas (31/07/2013)

Proposes a Social Plan for Culture and Employment and bring flamenco to Conservatory and municipal music schools

The Cante de las Minas is a universal heritage of Murcia has the responsibility to preserve and promote the future.

But to do so is not enough to declare a Cultural, or reduce support to flamenco to a festival that focuses on one week a year budget.

The Cante de las Minas has a clearly popular origin.

Born to the sound linked the miners and carters sang when they went from a mining area to another, looking for life with his songs.

And this link between flamenco and popular culture is what constitutes the authentic yeast that has made possible the Festival del Cante de las Minas.

Clearly no Cante flamenco artists Mine would not.

And the world of flamenco has been as affected as the cinema and the theater after the introduction of VAT 21% culture.

To this aggressive policy of the Government of Spain, it adds a cultural policy of the Regional Administration has been planned and worse misguided.

We have provided millions of euros to programming great shows on the model of SOS Festival concerts or MTV, and as a result of this waste, there have been serious cuts in the field of culture, events that have affected so Murcia culture emblematic as Barranda crews Festival, which takes two years without regional funding.

The municipality of La Union and the world of flamenco are also plagued by unemployment and precariousness, and the role of culture is not hide this fact, but to help transform it.

For this it is essential to go for the social and cultural fabric that constitutes the true source of our cultural heritage.

Culture should be a tool for social cohesion, and may also be a new source of jobs.

IU-Green Regional Assembly propose the introduction of flamenco (vocals and guitar) in all municipal music schools and the Conservatory of Murcia.

And also propose the development of a Social Plan for Culture and Employment, where the political commitment is the creation of new jobs around the culture.

We will raise to invest in the training and promotion of Flemish artists Murcia, with special attention to young people, and this investment is planned from the Ministry of Culture.

Investing in culture is not the same as organizing shows.

Culture is treated as a common good, and focus on people who dedicated to her performing a service to society.
