Important progress in the strategic project of Portman (15/02/2013)

The Commission's Strategic Project Portman Bay held a working meeting in Murcia, in the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which have become known the various developments taking place around this major tourism initiative that will develop in the town of La Union.

The meeting was attended by four CEOs of the autonomous region, such as Economy, Luis Martinez de Salas, Spatial, Yolanda Muńoz, Industry and Mines, Pedro Jimenez, and Environment, Amador Lopez also the head of service ports.

Also attended by the Head of the Coastal Murcia, Andres Martinez.

And by our council attended by the mayor, Francisco Bernabé, and deputy mayors of Presidency and Tourism, Carlos Martinez and Antonio Liarte respectively.

The Director General of Mines reported that already developed by the technicians of the department, the draft Order which will regulate the procedure for determining the soil will actually be assigned to risks of mining and those in which they can develop a future urban development process.

This step is essential to be able to carry out the Portman tourism project, because at present the entire surface of the Sierra Minera as a whole is considered as hazardous mining and thanks to this policy instrument will be able to determine what surfaces likely to harbor buildings without fear of any problems arising from mining.

The text of the Order will now follow the mandatory consultation process between the various agencies must report it and the anticipation of the Directorate General of Mines is that it can definitely be approved next spring.

Also, by the Directorate General of Ports has been issued to the members of the Committee that the economic feasibility study of the new marina and fishing Portman has been positively concluded shortly and is scheduled to start the process for the drafting of basic infrastructure.

Temporal forecast is handled is that it is completed before next summer.

After obtaining the favorable environmental impact assessment and economic feasibility study positive, both already achieved, this is the last step that remains to be done before you can get the administrative concession contract that will allow the construction of the port.

In conclusion, the Head of the Coastal Authority has ratified the purpose of the Ministry to undertake this year the start of construction of the Bay regeneration, being now far advanced the work of the project to be modified to allow lift competition in the coming months the first phase of works amounting to 35 million euros.

Our mayor, Francisco Bernabé, has revealed the satisfaction of the City Council to see how the three major projects that shaped Portman (Bay reclamation, construction of the new port and town planning of future tourism development) are advancing in parallel and giving great strides in recent times, despite the technical complexity and the numerous administrative procedures each separately must be overcome.

The Commission has again be planted in early April to continue the coordinated monitoring of the various processes involved.
