Fulgencio Cegarra Perez, died yesterday at the age of 83.
This morning, his funeral took place at Our Lady of Rosary Church, which have turned their family and many friends who wanted to give his last farewell to this great unionense.
In 2008 the City of La Union appointed Chest, as everyone knew him, Honorary Citizen of Our Town, in a ceremony that I can not personally attend because of her illness.
It was his son Jose Antonio who was in his name, and the hands of our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, the distinction.
The artist Fulgencio Cegarra Perez was born in Barcelona in 1920.
Within two years he moved with his family to La Union.
Being very young, his mother died a few years later, his father was crushed by the song of a mine.
Workers in the mining field and in his fondness for drawing finds refuge for adversity.
Working at night, provided the time needed to attend classes at the Art School of Cartagena run by the famous painter Vincent Ros.
During his military service in Palma de Mallorca attended classes at the specialty of Fine Arts.
Back to The Union again urges him to life at the mine and industrial painting, but also cultivated his artistic passion, especially in the decoration with the flask technique learned from the master Diego Vagisil.
Since then he devoted himself to this art with extraordinary success.
He has participated in several exhibitions and competitions, with the following prizes:

Painting Award The Union (1956)
1st.
Topics Cartagena Award (1958) with the play "Roundabout".
1st.
Prize in Murcia (1959) with the work "vase of flowers."
Other works deserved special mention: "Death of San Gines," "Porcelain Elizabethan" and "Wealth of the sea".
Numerous buildings and public spaces of Murcia, Cartagena, La Union and La Manga have polychrome tiles according to the technique of the flask, signed by Fulgencio Cegarra.
His works are well known in the U.S., France, Germany and the UK.
Fulgencio Cegarra has worked also as an artist on the set of the National Festival del Cante de las Minas.
