The Painter of White will give a lecture at the foot of Cabezo Raja on Monday August 8th from 18pm.

Undoubtedly one of the important events of this year's Festival.

The Murcia Pedro Cano has been the artist who made this year's poster of the Festival del Cante de las Minas.

He joins the large firms since the nineties illustrate the image of unionense festival.

Chillida, Tàpies, Barceló, Gaya, are just some of the names that have made the poster promoting the Festival throughout the world.

The picture this year is a representation of Cabezo Raja mountain symbolizes the municipality unionense.

Cano's poster is filled with shades of yellow, blue, gray and ocher tones present in the mountains that characterize the face of it.

White artist chose a particular place to look, to observe and soak up all the smells, flavors and colors of Cabezo, a point of view from which made the first sketch for the poster.

That place is chosen, again, for taking a course to be held next Monday.

In the words of the artist, the course "aims to address from reality ... to explain to people like trying to catch a landscape through a box of watercolors."

Cano will start the course painting.

During an hour capture the moment on his canvas and the landscape.

Then, after a series of keys that decrypt the painter, the participants begin to capture the lessons learned from his watercolors, oils, or just colored pencils.

Our teacher would like that "people paint or not, be present and attend this unique experience."

Remember, Monday, August 8th from 18pm.

Those wishing to attend as students at the workshop, which incidentally is free, must register with the Office of Tourism of the City of La Union before next Monday 8 to 12 pm.

PEDRO CANO, brief biography

It starts out their first self-made oil paintings with just eleven years in his home town of Blanca (Murcia).

Later he moved to Madrid and later in 1965, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, which is teachers and Juan Antonio López Bartolo.

Obtained numerous awards and recognitions, including the Gold Medal at the Biennial of Painting and Sculpture in Florence in 1971 and a year later the Gold Medal of the Biennial of Graphic Arts in Florence.

In 2001 he was named Academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Santa Maria de la Arrixaca of Murcia and the task of Isabel the Catholic in addition to the artist's investiture as Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Murcia in 2005.

Currently out in the Vatican Museum and Rome lies between alternating with a few seasons in his hometown, White.
