The Minister of Universities, Business and Research, José Ballesta, today inaugurated the refurbishment of the Plaza Joaquín Costa, who serve as impetus to retail in the municipality.

The works have received an investment of 200,000 euros, financed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Commerce and Handicrafts, through an order of incentives aimed at encouraging the commercial sector in the region, "for which he has been instrumental in the strong support and determined the City of La Union, always dump on the continuous improvement of municipal infrastructure, "said the counselor.
Specifically, the project involved the renovation of flooring and walkways, the burial containers and electrical wiring, installing new street furniture, equipment replacement and replanting of trees, especially poplars, which came to replace palms affected by the red palm weevil.
Prior to the granting of this aid, the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research has invested nearly EUR 30,000 in the replacement and upgrading of the exterior lighting of the square Joaquín Costa, making it more efficient from an energy standpoint.
José Ballesta concluded that this action "improve the urban image of the center of La Union, by providing all residents an open public kind, modern and adapted to their needs, in a joint effort of the regional administration and local corporation ".
