Education to build a new elementary and primary school in La Union that enroll 450 students (22/03/2011)

The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Sotoca Constantine, along with the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, presented the proposed new elementary and primary school 'San Gil', "a center that will address the educational needs of the municipality and school of 450 elementary and primary students, "said Sotoca.

Work on the new center has a budget of 3.3 million euros, financed by regional and local administrations.

The works for the children's ward will begin in the coming months so that students can enroll in school and in the 2011-2012 academic year.

The new center will have 18 units, 6-Primary Education Primary and 12, a gym, multipurpose room, dining room, two sports courts and auxiliary facilities.

The counselor noted that this center joins other investments that the government is developing in the municipality in terms of education facilities, as the new Infant School, construction of sports pavilion or IES Sierra Minera María Cegarra sports hall.

The municipality of La Union currently has 3,600 students enrolled, 900 Children, 1,400 and 1,300 Primary Education Secondary, Baccalaureate, vocational training and PCPI.

Sotoca recalled the financial effort made by the regional government over this term and has resulted in the construction of 25 new schools and 70 additions, in which "we have invested over 140 million euros."

During the presentation of the project, the Minister referred also to the Flamenco Art School, another project working together the City and Regional Government and has the full backing of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment.

In this regard, he announced that "soon will sign a cooperation agreement that will allow us to promote the study and learning of flamenco, particularly in the musical forms of song, dance, guitar and percussion."

Under that agreement, the Ministry will monitor the curricula of the School, to train and guide their students to be eligible to continue further studies at the conservatories in our region.

"An education that will serve as preparation to enter higher professional studies and taught at various conservatories in the region," said the counselor.

The agreement also provides for the grant on a reciprocal basis for their respective students, benefits, allowances and preferential enrollment in the unregulated art activities with special character is made by them during the academic year.

Sotoca said a Flemish Region as it has to have a backup, not only social and cultural, which are unquestionable, but also educational, as well being, and recalled that "Murcia, behind Andalusia, is a pioneer state in the flamenco introduction in the educational field. "
