Complete works of transformation of the old slaughterhouse of La Union in the new social services center (17/03/2011)

The enclosure will have a specific space intended to accommodate a Specialized Care Center for Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI)

Citizens of the Union have today with a new social service center, through the rehabilitation for public use of the old municipal slaughterhouse.

The facility was inaugurated this morning by the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Immigration Bascuñana Joaquin, who was accompanied by Mayor Francisco Bernabé, and the secretary general of the Ministry, Fernando Mateo.

The work has been funded by the Autonomous Region with 302,000 euros, provided by the ministries of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and Public Works and Planning, who have contributed in equal parts (151,000 euros) to the project.

The remodeled units, which house the new headquarters of the Department of Social Services, has 441 square meters on two floors, where they develop their work the 11 employees at the center.

Furthermore, it has reserved a space for the future location of the Center for Assistance to Victims of Sexual Violence (CAVI).

The works have included a renovation of walls and floors, and a reform in the structure and replacement of facilities.

It has also been included in the construction of the building to install a lift to facilitate access and ensure the full integration of persons with disabilities.

Of the 11 professionals (social workers, technical jobs, technical integration, psychologists and educators) who serve, one of which is dedicated to the dependent and the other part of Accompaniment Programme for Social Inclusion.

Last 2010, the municipal social services of La Union 623 people attended a total of 461 family files open.
