The Minister of Public Works and Planning in the Region of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé have today laid the foundation stone for the works that will lead to the new roundabout to access the industrial estate " What Bolarín "located in the municipality unionense.

The event, which was also attended by the Director General of Highways, Jose Guijarro, as well as a large group of entrepreneurs and faculty at nearby colleges, occurs after the Autonomous Region approved a budget of over 1.6 million euros for the performance of such work, and that more than 50 companies have applied to carry out the work.

The performance includes the management of access to this industrial area by constructing a roundabout at the intersection of roads MR-F40 (from the Union to the Camachos) and MR-F41 (from La Union to the hamlet of Roche), in its connection with the polygon.

Thus, the new road infrastructure will have two lanes of 4.25 meters, berms and sidewalks for two meters also will proceed to the installation of new lighting and signage horizontal and vertical, and the corresponding beacon the entire section under performance.

This roundabout, with an outer diameter of 59 meters in total, will have five entrances: from Los Camachos, the area south of the polygon, the north, from Roche, and from the street Murcia, which connects to the center of La Union .

The mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, welcomed the implementation of these works, which he considered "a defendant pressing need for several years," and used the occasion to congratulate both the business community as to the Ministry of Works public for their efforts and commitment exerted to realize this infrastructure.

For his part, José Ballesta stressed the "social cost" of this project, calling it "one of the best", since "there is only one of the core business of industrial development and most important of the Region of Murcia but also there are schools nearby, which ensures that this investment affects people and will improve and benefit. "

Also, the Minister said that among other features, the round will be double track and "the latest advances in road safety, such as a series of special anti-shock street lamps, made of fiberglass, that will prevent damage material and personnel in the event of an accident and that will be flexible and yield to any impact.

The works will involve a significant aesthetic improvement in access to La Union and reduce the risk of accidents in a confluence zone that records high traffic intensity derived from the industrial area, with more than 3.8 million vehicles a year, which 365,000 are heavy.
