The City of La Union agreed today on special plenary, to initiate legal action and criminal proceedings before the Court of Auditors against the managers of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas in 2005 and 2006, for alleged malfeasance and misappropriation of public funds in connection with alleged irregularities revealed by an audit.
The opinion of the Special Accounts Committee and Standing of Economy and Finance of the Consistory unionense comes after an audit of the Autonomous Community has revealed the absence of revenue from the sale of entrance tickets during the editing of Cante de las Minas de 2006, and various accounting anomalies in invoices and contracts.
The local political parties PP and IU had already given their vote for the information of Finance Committee held on Monday, for presentation in court of the audit and the subsequent lawsuit by the City Council, so that today's agreement not merely formally ratify the actions to follow in the coming days.
