V convene the photo contest on the Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Union (02/11/2010)

Union, 02 November 2010.

Until Nov. 19 jobs may be submitted to the V edition of the Photography Competition which have called the Interpretation Center of the Matildas and Mina Sierra Minera Foundation, with support from the Mining Park of La Union, and on this occasion focuses on the historical photo in the Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Union.

The aim of the competition, which can compete individually or in groups and will provide the winner with 300 euros, is to collect and disseminate old images that may be of interest to show and ethnographic aspects of daily life and history in the Sierra.

Subsequently, after the jury's verdict resolved, scheduled for December 11, there will be an exhibition of photographs presented in the Interpretation Centre Mina Matildas, which will continue to visit until 19 December.

The deadline for submission of papers to this competition will remain open until 19 November, being the headquarters of the Fundación Sierra Minera, in The Machinist Levante in La Union, the place where you can submit.

CONTEST

1.

Participants.

Any person or group, preferably residing in the vicinity of the Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Union.

2.

Subject.

Must be of historical photographs taken until 1991, when they finished mining work in the area.

The theme of the photos must be related to relevant aspects of everyday life in the Sierra, the mining work, daily life, family, holidays, customs and traditions, labor disputes, industrial landscapes, urban or rural etc.

3.

Timing and format.

Works are accepted until November 19, 2010, and place shall be the headquarters of the Fundación Sierra Minera La Union, situated in the Machinist Levante s / n, in morning and Monday to Friday.

The works will be delivered in an envelope inside indicating personal data and title of the work presented: name, age, ID number, address and telephone number, title of the work presented, and year of completion of photography.

In the case of very old images means that this data can be approximated.

Papers must be unpublished and original.

The photographs will be scanned and returned the originals, which can be removed from the headquarters of the Fundación Sierra Minera after the date of the act of the awards.

4.

Technical requirements.

Papers can be both black and white and color; can be submitted up to five photographs per participant original photographs may be submitted in any size, although the size of the photos will unify (20x25 cm.) For exhibition later.

5.

Awards.

The winner will receive a first prize of 300 euros, while the second will be 200 euros, also, there will be a Special Jury Award, worth 100 euros and will be accompanied with the delivery of a trophy.

If the jury deems appropriate, any prize may be forfeited.

6.

Jury.

Be composed of prestigious professionals in the areas of mining heritage and photography.

One of the members and Secretary shall keep minutes of the resolutions of the Jury for publication.

7.

Awards.

The jury's decision and the awards will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at a public event in the Interpretation Center of the Mine The Matildas, who was invited to the contestants.

8.

Destination of the works.

Participation in this competition include the transfer to the Fundación Sierra Minera of the rights to use images sent for the purpose of promotion, dissemination and retrieval of the mining heritage of its own.

In this sense, the photographs will be exhibited at the Interpretation Centre Mine Matildas (Spot the Matildas. The Beal, Cartagena), between 23 November and 19 December 2010.

Participants in the contest will be given two tickets to Mina to the Matildas can see their work exhibited.

During the period in which the photographs will be on display, visitors to the Interpretation Center will vote for the work that you liked most and this vote will be counted to provide the Special Jury Award.

Subsequently, the winning photographs will be displayed on the website of the Fundación Sierra Minera.
