Baeza Clemares

Jose Baeza Clemares (Alumbres, 1857 The Union, 1920) is one of the great names of the scene in the Union.

His figure embodies the golden age of the theater in the mining town, lived between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth.

For forty years, from 1880 to 1920, he worked as an actor, stage director and entrepreneur for the company that bore his name.

Baeza interpreted and directed all sorts of productions, from comedy to drama, but he was especially noted for his versions of the works of the Nobel Prize winner José Echegaray.

The Teatro Principal de La Unión was a witness to its representations and a street of the town takes its name.
