Further improvement of the old public market (25/06/2010)

The Old Public Market, a building declared a Cultural and headquarters of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, is undergoing renovation and improvement.

Jobs are being implemented comprehensive fitness spaces for men and ladies toilets.

Similarly, it is improving access to them.

Furthermore, it is proceeding with the repair of exterior windows, primarily those that form the dome.

The action involves the replacement of damaged parts and broken glass, as well as sealing the windows to prevent water leakage.

Finally, it is carrying out maintenance on the exterior walls, consisting of the repair and painting of the same.

The total project cost is 99,700 euros, funded by the Plan E.

These upgrading works of the Old Public Market in addition to other projects in previous years as the repair of roofs made last year amounting to 60,000 euros.

Moreover, in 2008, improvements were made in the light of the public market through a project valued at 50,000 euros.

The Mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, said that "these works, together with those previously promoted, converted into the Cathedral of Cante in a comfortable and enjoyable for all citizens to enjoy this iconic and majestic building either witnessed a cultural event as the next Cante de Las Minas, or simply making a visit. "

Barnabas announced that "in short, continue to execute actions for the refurbishment of the public market as the replacement of existing access gates and functional modern glass boxes."
