Domingo Coronado: "The regional government acts with seriousness and rigor to solve the problem of the mining sierra of Cartagena" (13/02/2019)

"We know that in the mining area of ​​Cartagena there is a problem and the regional government is acting with seriousness and rigor to solve it," said the regional deputy of the Popular Party, Domingo Coronado who has asked the political groups "prudence, seriousness because we must be more in search of solutions than in generating alarmism ".

Coronado has heard the testimonies of the head of the Pediatric Environmental Health Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, Juan Antonio Ortega and the researcher José Matías Peña who have appeared before the Regional Assembly, Agriculture, Water and Environment Committee of the Regional Assembly .

The regional deputy of the PP has explained that from a clinical point of view, "families and people who may be affected are being served" and from the environmental field the regional government has approved the Environmental Recovery Plan of Soils Affected by Mining ( PRASAM), which includes 30 concrete measures, and an investment of 85 million euros for the recovery and decontamination of soils affected by mining activity.

Domingo Coronado pointed out that "we should make our own the words of those in attendance regarding the need to seek the synergies of all administrations to address the problem and forget about political parties and colors" p.

In this regard, he recalled, as has been stated in the committee that we are talking about a situation "that has been going on for 2,000 years".
