Repsol supports with 15,000 euros four social projects for Cartagena and La Unión (21/12/2018)

'Respiro familiar', 'Asorcar', 'Apices' and the social dining room of 'Hogar del Buen Samaritano' have been the nominations chosen by the jury in this call.

With these grants, Repsol reinforces its commitment to those associations that work for the benefit of vulnerable groups or at risk of exclusion, disability and dependency.

The director of the Cartagena Refinery, Joaquín García-Estañ, stressed that this year there have been 43 projects submitted to this call for the Social Aid Fund of the Repsol Foundation.

The Cartagena Refinery has been the scene of the delivery of checks that every year, at this time, are awarded to projects of a social nature.

The aid, worth 15,000 euros, will go to four associations and NGOs that develop their work in the environment of Cartagena and La Union.

In this call, launched by Fundación Repsol, the jury has decided to support the 'Respiro familia' association of La Unión, 'Asorcar' (Association of Deaf People of Cartagena), 'Apices' (Association of People with Mental Illness) and the social dining room 'Hogar del Buen Samaritano'.

The heads of the associations have received the checks from the director of the Refinery of Cartagena, Joaquín García-Estañ, who pointed out that this year there have been 43 applications to this Social Aid Fund of Fundación Repsol.

It has been specially taken into account that the projects will benefit groups that are vulnerable or at risk of exclusion, and those that work with disabilities and dependency.

Each of the associations and NGOs has received 3,750 euros for its development.

The projects that will receive the grants are:

'Family respite'

The association 'Respiro familiar' 24h The Union was created in 2016 in order to offer a response to the need to care for and care for children in the area with various disabilities, both physical and psychological, providing life balance family and work of parents, caregivers and guardians, during the school holidays of this group.

Through the ''Escuelas Respiro' 'project, the association offers support to these families during the summer periods.

'Asorcar'

The Association of Deaf People of Cartagena and District 'Asorcar' is a non-profit organization, founded in 1976 to represent and defend their interests.

Aware of the barriers that exist in everyday life for deaf people, the association has launched the program 'Services for accessibility' which provides free services of sign language interpreters, something that currently does not provide any entity.

'Apices'

'Apices' is an association dedicated to the rehabilitation and community integration of people with mental illness in Cartagena.

His project of 'Attention for families of minors at risk of exclusion' is intended to provide families with minor children with mental health problems, a therapeutic support network, in the school and family environment.

Ensuring that the professionals of the educational center and the family have the necessary strategies for the favorable educational development of the minor, avoiding to a greater extent the school failure.

Social Dining Room 'Hogar del Buen Samaritano'

It is an association that helps people in situations of emergency, risk or social exclusion.

Through the presented project, the association tries to respond to the most basic physiological needs, such as food, hygiene and health, and help users of their services in job search, guiding them throughout the process and facilitating his incorporation to the labor world.

Throughout the year, it serves an average of 600 beneficiaries.
