The Mayor and Executive President of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Pedro López Milán has inaugurated the 58th edition of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, with the traditional ribbon cutting and lighting of the cover that gives access to the Avenida del Flamenco .

From August 1 to 11, the Old Public Market becomes the nerve center of a festival that will host Miguel Ortega, Diana Navarro, Manuel Lombo, Pitingo, Maria Terremoto, Los Vivancos, Antonia Contreras, Arcángel and the Bulgarian voices, Alfredo Tejada and Vicente Amigo.

Today has been held the pre-August day dedicated to The Union where the local choirs have been the true protagonists in the Cathedral of Cante.

Once celebrated the traditional mining mass in the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, sung by Encarnación Fernández, award Lamp Minera 1979 and 1980, accompanied by one of the official guitarists of the contest, Antonio Muñoz.

Later, already in the Old Public Market, the "Carburo Minero" award was presented to the La Unión Music Group.

The group and the Coral Argentum interpreted the Anthem of the Union.

Later, La Rondalla and the Choir of the Home of the 3rd Age of La Unión gave voice to the Festival's Anthem that was sung by all the public that has filled the Cathedral of Cante.

Afterwards, the flamenco group of the Artedanza Academy took the stage, which delighted the audience with a great repertoire, the fruit of the work carried out during this course.

The first day of the festival closed the joint performance of the artist Óscar de Manuel, winner of the "Filón" for the Best Flamenco Instrumentalist of the 52nd edition of the contest, and the Musical Association of La Unión.

The composer and musical pedagogue has made a "daring" show, in which they have performed two complete works of fandangos and bulerías, among other styles.

Óscar de Manuel has returned to the stage of the Public Market of La Unión with his flute, after having made history by becoming the first flautist to win the "Filón" for the Best Flamenco Instrumentalist of the 52nd edition of the contest.

On stage he was accompanied by the Musical Group of La Unión, composed of fifty musicians with numerous and varied wind-wood and percussion instruments and some of the members of his symphonic flamenco company.

A fun and entertaining concert that has put, in many moments, a smile among the public that has crowded the Old Public Market.

At the end of the ceremony, the exterior facade of the Old Public Market was a play of lights that dazzled the audience and put the ideal brooch to a previous day that has set the bar very high for the following events of the International Festival of Singing the Mines.

Tomorrow will take place the proclamation by the journalist Jesús Álvarez Cervantes.

Afterwards, the flamenco gala will be starred by Alfredo Tejada, Alejandro Hurtado, Fernando Jiménez, Sergio de Lope, Lámpara Minera, Bordón, Desplante and Filón awards from the last edition.

The Prologue Day will begin at ten o'clock and admission will be free until the capacity is reached.
