The Director General of Trade and Crafts, Julio José Lorenzo, and the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, presented yesterday at the traders and businessmen of the town to study the "feasibility Project Open Mall Union."

This meeting was attended by the President of the Federation of Business and Professional Union, Mariano Miranda, the head of the Regional Service of Competition Directorate-General of Trade and Crafts, Joaquín Albaladejo, and the President of the Federation Small and medium businesses of Cartagena (FECC), Pedro Miralles.

The Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, stressed the importance of the project to "revitalize the business and commercial activity in the center of town."

The historic town center is already conditioned to receive future Open Mall.

Semipeatonalización works, financed by the Autonomous Community of 800,000 euros, improve accessibility to the core of most business in the municipality.

The work has been to pave with cobblestones all city streets, removing architectural barriers, installing new street furniture and to bury power lines, among other actions.

Moreover, the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through the Directorate General of Commerce and Handicrafts, funded with 140,000 euros various actions undertaken in the city.

Thus, it has provided with new furniture and items to improve road safety in the city center.

Bollards have been installed, reducing speed bands, mirror vision, night light beacon built, new playground in various places and new lighting.

In addition to these investments, the municipality of La Union is already working on the project of comprehensive reform of the High Street, the main shopping street of the city and the square Joaquín Costa.

The Open Trade Center project is driven by the City Council, the Autonomous Community, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Cartagena and the Federation of Associations of Entrepreneurs and Professionals Union (FAEPU).
