The Lebrijano and Carlos Piñana will close the First International Conference on Cantes Flamenco Mining (28/05/2010)

The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, Vice Chancellor of University Extension, University of Murcia, Francisco Guillermo Díaz Baños, and the Director of the International University of the Sea, Manuela Lopez Tenes, presented the First International Conference on Cantes Flamenco Miners, in the framework of the Summer Courses of the Universidad Internacional del Mar (Universidad de Murcia), will be held from 2 to 4 June in the mining town.

During the presentation, it was revealed that the singer Juan Peña Fernández "El Lebrijano" and guitarist Carlos Cartagena Piñana, Bordon Minero del Cante de Las Minas in 1996, will be responsible for closing the First International Conference on Cantes Miners Flamenco.

In addition to the presentations, audiovisual presentations and round tables that make up the programming of the First International Conference on Cantes Miners Flamenco, flamenco recitals were held by three winners of the Mining Lamp, Rocío Segura, Gema Jiménez and Encarnación Fernández, and will visit the Mining Museum, the Old Public Market and Mining Park of La Union.

The objectives of the Congress are: To promote and stimulate knowledge and study of miners singing in the university community and flamenco fans in general, enhance and dignify in academic one of the greatest exponents of the cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia are songs of mines and promote research, debate and confrontation among experts in this branch of Flemish art, and support the celebration of the 50th International Festival of Cante de las Minas

Flamenco International Congress on Mining Cantes is co-organized by the Universidad Internacional del Mar and the Foundation Cante de Las Minas.
