Sotoca laid the first stone of the children's ward Cabezos Gomariz CEIP La Union (19/05/2010)

The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Constantine Sotoca, today became the cornerstone of the College and Child Pavilion Ginés Cabezos Gomariz, unionense the hamlet of Roche, which will complete the school facilities and remove the portable classrooms.

The building has three classrooms and a Child Support, and have the capacity to house 75 children (25 by educational level), as explained by the Minister, who also announced he will be ready for the start of next academic year 2010 - 2011.

The construction of the new facility represents an investment of 290,000 euros, which will be financed entirely by the Ministry of Education and is part of an overall plan to improve educational infrastructure in the municipality, which also are undertaking other works, such as enlargement Herrerías school with six classrooms (three and three of Primary Children) and other projects will be undertaken for more than five million euros.

Among these projects, the Minister of Education said some, like building a sports hall in the Sierra Minera IES and the IES María Cegarra, the replacement of Alfonso X College or the construction of a new Infant School.

Sotoca was convinced that "investing in education is investing in our children's future and the progress of the Region", so said "this is a top priority issue for the regional government."

The education minister defended the need for good infrastructure, "because we know how important it is to optimize the performance space for school and want to create the right environment to make students feel comfortable and motivated to learn."
